Mauritius Parakeet, Echo Parakeet Description: green; back of head to side of cheek area suffused with blue; broad cheek-stripe to side of nape and narrow line from cere to eye black; collar to side of nape pink; abdomen and under wing-coverts slightly brighter green; upperside of tail-feathers green, underside dirty yellow; upper mandible red; lower mandible black; iris yellowish; feet grey. Diet: various fruit, seeds of local plants, buds and leaves, small seed mix of safflower, millet, hemp, oats and canary grass; millet spray. Length: 42 cm, wing length 175 - 190 mm, tail length 162 - 200 mm. Seychelles Parakeet Description: green; back of head, nape and narrow stripes to cheek washed with blue; broad cheek-stripe and obscure narrow line from cere to eye black; abdomen yellowish-green; purple-red patch on wing coverts; upperside of middle tail-feathers blue with yellow tips, outer feathers green; tail underside yellow; bill red with yellow tip; iris yellowish; feet grey. Length: 41 cm (16 ins) Newton's Parakeet Description: Psittacula exsul was probably green, with red wing-patches in the male, which also occurred in a bluish variation; only two skins remain of species, both belonging to blue form; general plumage greenish-blue with grey hue; breast, abdomen and under tail-coverts slightly paler; head darker and without grey tinge; fine black line between cere and eye; black stripes to cheek and black narrow band to neck adjoining bluish-green band; primaries greenish-blue; upperside to tail feathers bluish-green, underside grey; upper mandible red, lower mandible black; iris yellow; feet grey.
